Meet Our Horses

Each of our horses have come to us through various means. Regardless of their history, once they come into our care, they become an integral part of our ministry.

Spirit

Spirit's name suits her perfectly - she is full of spirit. As the leader of the herd, she takes her role very seriously.
When she first arrived, we didn't think we'd ever be able to connect with this wild, stubborn mare. With Parelli training and very patient volunteers, Spirit began to connect with people and feel like she was being understood. She turned into quite the sweetheart and is loved by ranch visitors.

Sam

Sam is gentle, quiet, and very laid back (think of a sweet old lady). She would much rather watch the action than take part in it. She is patient and unselfish, always content to be last.
Sam is not a leader or a follower. She likes to do her own thing. You can count on her to be great with people and stay calm even when the youngsters get riled up.

Chloe

Chloe is a smart, loving horse. She loves people, but she loves sweets more!
Chloe arrived afraid of anything resembling a stick and dangerously addicted to sweets.
She overcame her fear of sticks, learning that at HOPR, sticks are to guide rather than punish. And she no longer searches the pockets of strangers for treats or nibbles clothes looking for snacks! She still enjoys a treat now and again.

Daisy

Daisy is the newest horse to our herd. We picked her up from her previous owner in November 2023. So far, Daisy has been a sweet and gentle horse. She is currently spending a month with a horse training specialist. She will be a welcome addition during ranch camps when she gives campers rides.

Jeffery

Jeffrey is a sweet boy. He loves people and any attention that he can get. He can also be a bit silly, either making you laugh or roll your eyes. But he always has good intentions. Jeffrey does not like to be alone and he never misses out on the action.
